Benedict Cumberbatch: 'Sometimes I think I want more brain space. You only get one chance to do a role like this'

Cooke says Benedict Cumberbatch is ‘an acting animal’. ‘When you have actors as good as that you can get pretty much everything you need in the first three takes,’ he says.
‘His instincts are brilliant. He has a connection with this part and brings something new to each take. I let him do his own thing quite a lot because his choices are so good.’

According to Cumberbatch it is ‘bliss’ to be working with Dominic Cooke. ‘It is a perfect marriage,’ he says. ‘The man is as good behind a camera as he is in the stalls of a theatre.'
